Tokyo Sensoji Temple Area Tour
Today we tour the Sensoji Temple area of Tokyo with our guide Toshi. He did an excellent job touring us around Tokyo and the Sensoji Temple Area. We will show you all the great areas he showed us in near the Sensoji Temple and the meiji shrine area. He also showed us an amazing restaurant in the area of the Sensoji Temple that make what he called “Tokyo Pizza”! It was fantastic!
We thought our guide Toshi today was great. Here’s a link to his Tours by Locals page:

Agree about the Travelon bags, mine saved me from a would be pickpocketer on a crowded train in Milan 5 years ago. I was considering getting the larger size (same as yours) for an upcoming trip but thought it might be too cumbersome and heavy especially if carrying two drinks, thanks for confirming that, I think I’ll pass on it and stick to what I have. We loved Pompeii and went to Herculaneum the same day which was also fabulous, we had a great private guide, it was all very interesting but so hot. Loving following along with your trip from my home here in Sydney Australia, your videos are so informative and entertaining. Thank you so much for doing them.

wouldn't the clearance under the bridges change with the tides? If so then they would have a certain window that would allow for safe travel underneath the bridge.

I enjoy taking videos going under the bridges and agree that the top deck with a good view of the before and after and the superstructure of the ship is the best place to be. I'm enclosing a link to the video I took going under the Tampa Bay bridge back in 2019. ua-cam.com/video/2QroSNDOYvY/v-deo.html I cleaned up my video quickly so I could show it to our captain because I wanted to use his voice, with his permission, and really enjoyed his reaction to how close the super structure is to the bottom of the bridge. The next time I went under that bridge, I watched from the bridge viewing room on the NCL Pearl and saw how non eventful the view is that the captain or staff captain has going under these big bridges. That explained his brief, "jaw drop" reaction that I enjoyed getting from him during my short video, but that was followed by his response which I added into my video that the stacks in the back were the highest point of our ship. Looking forward to meeting you folks when I'm on the ship with you in August. If I don't run into you, don't be surprised if you find a 'cruising duck' on your cabin door.

Love Iceland couldn’t go to Greenland due to weather conditions. Spent only 15 days there and if it weren’t so expensive I will definitely come back. I love south Italy and Sicily. Loved the decadence and that they were truly not a Disney tourist resort like sorrento and Taormina. Dirty yes, dangerous yes. But you can sense the city sleeping there. My tip to Pompeii is go to Herculano. With a guide if possible because there is much you don’t know what you are doing. In Florence there are loads of turista and tours but the community of Florence has great tours within the museums. I did the inferno tour and it was amazing (not avaible nowadays). In Spain be careful with the weather we are having a very mild summer but it will be extremely hot for you. In Malaga try the pimpi, a tourist tapas bar. It is a must, pricy but it has the ambiance of the old tapas bars. Take care carry water and a sunhat. I have never been to Vigo I think it is one of your ports and they have Christmas lights from September on. Is a running joke in Spain. I am waiting to see it through you with your eyes. In Spain not all the cities have Uber, download Freeform which is the taxi app and compare prices. That way is less probable for you to get scammed. Love you, love the respect you put in your videos, and Nancy you look great.

Not to take anything from your send off - they've given every cruise I've watched that sailed from Yokohama a good send off. I mentioned on your previous tokyo video that it was my interest in (addiction to) japan and running out of english speaking youtubers in japan that led me to watch a cruise video sailing out of Yokohama that led to my interest in (addiction to) cruise videos. The Japanese people as a culture are wonderful. I'm so glad that you've gotten to experience it 1st hand. Japan and Alaska are my 2 bucket list places to visit. I just want people to realize that it's not because of the fact that you're on a World Cruise with lots of public interest. If I'm honest, I've seen other cruises get a bigger turnout for sail off. When watching a 7 day cruise that sailed out of Yokohama regularly on Saturday night somebody said that families would go to the port for picnics and to see the ships off as a thing to do. The Yokohama port has always impressed me with that green space. So many ports try to keep people out, but Yokohama encourages families to come.

On our cruise around SA, we did manage to get to the Folklands but, we almost weren't able to get back to the ship because the water became sooo rough and the tenders were having difficulty. They were saying that we might have to bunker down with residents on the island for the night. Luckily, they did manage to get us back on the ship but, it was scary. They still have live areas there. It was interesting.

My wife and I are retired Air Force and did visit northern Japan, Misawa AB, via military hops more than 20 yrs ago. We enjoyed that visit a good deal. I went to St John's, Newfoundland last year on my cruise to Greenland. I highly recommend getting Screeched-In when in Newfoundland. If you are going to St John's, Christians Pub is a great place to go to get screeched-in. It is an initiation ceremony of sorts that at the end after a lot of laughter, makes you an honorary Newfoundlander. I also took a tour with McCarthy's Tours to Cape Spear, the Easternmost spot in North America. The ship is docked in the downtown area and is within walking distance of many shops, restaurants and pubs. Dukes of Duckworth is a great place to go for fish and chips. Quidi Vidi, an old fishing village and i think there is the Quidi Vidi brewery qs well. The sail into St John's and the sail away is awesome, the Narrows live up to their name. When you are sailing away there will be many local people outside waving at the ship. Newfoundlanders are so friendly. It was in Gander, Newfoundland that during 9/11 many planes had to lqnd at the Gander airport when US airspace was closed. The hospitality of the Newfoundlanders was so incredible. The musical Come From Away is based on real life experiences from that time.

I docked in Tokyo both times in April 2024. I did tours in all of our ports through the cruise ship. One thing I noticed was that all of the guides carried a sketch book in which they had written key details like historical key facts, diagrams on the layout of the site, words in Japanese and so on. I normally took pictures of their book as they held it up on the bus. Many also carried a dry erase board where they wrote down meeting times for when we were on our own. I was very impressed with the Japanese tour guides, including the transfer to the airport. I had gotten to Japan from the Philippines and then went home for a month before returning to Tokyo to head north through Japan and then on to Alaska. I really enjoyed my time in Japan.

Looking forward to moving on from Japan.Surprised no face masks in the crowded markets. You mention soy sauce and my stomach lurches. After three food poisonings from Asian food......never again.I would love to just sit on your balcony and watch the ocean for a bit.

There were a few people who were facemasks. Perhaps we didn’t catch any on video. And and if you were on the cruise with us, we would invite you to come and sit on our balcony with us.😉

Another little tip about the trains. When you head to the “suburbs” Of Tokyo, on some lines the train would separate and head to different destinations. So, do pay close attention to the signage and watch out for those.

If you ever want to do a tour with extremely knowledgeable tour guides try Road Scholar. Excellent. This tour guide in Tokyo seems like he could be one of theirs. We are taking notes from your videos for our trip in April 2025. Thank you for sharing all your experiences!

another lovely video of your travels! You've been doing a great job with all the place names and your interest in the history and culture of the places you visit make your videos so interesting and enjoyable. Just a couple of notes for you: the silver tower you saw from Asakusa is the Tokyo Sky Tree. There is a much older and smaller Tokyo Tower in a different part of Tokyo, built to resemble the Eiffel Tower but painted red and white. The Tokyo style okonomiyaki is called monja and there is a third style in Hiroshima (cooked on both sides), so hopefully something for you to try on your next visit to Japan!
